Might not look like much, but very excited to find a wild patch of Pawpaw trees(Asimina triloba) on the farm. There were close to 2 dozen Paw Paw tress in various sizes but I only saw ONE fruit. Paw Paws are the largest edible fruit native to North America. These were growing in the understory of other trees, which limits the fruiting ability of the trees. Will try and clear around them and maybe plant some other species pawpaws to aid in pollination. The fruit is said to taste like a mix of mango and banana with a texture like custard. One of the reasons you don’t see this fruit in grocery stores is its short shelf life (perfect for a you-pick farm) and also problems pollinating the trees. We have planted other species on the farm and are very excited about the potential of our planted patches alongside the wild ones already growing.
