Dodder the vampire

Dodder / vampire plant

Found a curious plant recently called Dodder (cuscuta), which is a parasitic plant that will attach itself to other plants to obtain nutrients and will severe its own initial root system when it finds a host. (Thus relying solely on host plant) This dodder had orange string like vines that would eventually make a thick web of vines.  Some names bestowed upon the plant are: devil’s hair, goldthread, witches hair, strangleweed and hairweed.  Dodder is not very picky about the host plant it chooses attaching itself to a wide variety of agricultural crops, native and non-native plants.
